CUTTING SURFACE QUALITY OF ZA22/Al₂O₃ COMPOSITES

The cutting surface quality of the squeeze casting ZA22/Al₂O₃ composites was researched with a hard metal alloy cutter.The results show that the surface quality of the composites is better than that of ZA22 alloy under the same parameters.Higher cutting velocity,lower amount of feed and cutting thickness can improve the surface quality of the composites.With the increase of the volume fraction of Al₂O₃ fibers, the cutting surface roughness of the composites is lowered.
