Abstract: The mechanical properties and structure of SiC coated fibres by PVD have been investigated. The experimental results show that the amorphous SiC coating has been obtained on carbon fibers, and the coating improves the oxidation resistance of carbon fibers below 700 without decreasing its mechanical properties.
