Abstract:
A kind of Al
2O
3-TiC/Al
2O
3-TiC-CaF
2 laminated composite ceramic layered stack by Al
2O
3-TiC ceramic and self-lubricating Al
2O
3-TiC-CaF
2 composite was prepared by vacuum hot pressing sintering. The friction and wear behaviors and wear mechanism of laminated composite were researched though the ring-disc friction and wear tester in different load conditions and rotation speeds, the worn morphology was observed by SEM and the elements were investigated by EDS. Results show that the friction coefficient and wear rate decline when the rotation speed increases at the same load conditions, and also decrease with the increase of the load with the same rotating speed. The main wear mechanisms of Al
2O
3-TiC/Al
2O
3-TiC-CaF
2 laminated composite are abrasive wear and adhesive wear.
