Abstract:
The directional solidification of aluminium matrix composites,reinforced by carbon fiber with non-wettable SiC coatings,was presented in this paper.The functions of directional solidification velocity to the solidification processing and morphology were studied,and the columnar dendrite with different arm spacing and cellular crystal were obtained in the matrix between the fiber bunches.It has been found that the tensile strength of non-wettable system composites decreased after directional solidification,and the mechanism was also probed.
