Abstract:
Interface phenomena of ceramic Al
2O
3,with liquid intermetallic compound Fe-40Al were investigated experimentally by the sessile drop method.Studies were focused on the wettability and interface interaction between Al
2O
3 and Fe-40A1,and the effects of temperatures,holding time and alloying elements.The results showed that the contact angles of Fe-40A1 with Al
2O
3,were about 85°on the average.The addition of alloying elements affected the wettability in different ways.And the interface of Fe-40A1 and Al
2O
3,formed in the sessile drop method was different from that formed in non-melt processing in other works.
