STRESS DISTRIBUTION AND DEFORMATION CHARACTERISTICS OF MATRIX IN SHORT FIBER REINFORCED METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES

  • The behavior of matrix is an important factor for the performances of short fiber reinforced metal matrix composites. Through the elastic plastic finite element method, which is based on a 3 D single fiber model, the stress distributions and deformation characteristics of matrix in short fiber reinforced metal matrix composite were studied in different fiber orientations and interfacial bond. It is shown that the changes in fiber orientation and interfacial bond have great effect on the stress distributions and deformation characteristics of matrix.
