Oxide sols were prepared with Si(OEt)
4, AlCl
3, and Al(NO
3)
3. Well distributed and inseparable Al
2O
3 SiO
2 coating, which can be transformed to Mullite crystalline at high temperature, on carbon fibers was obtained by sol gel and inorganization processes. The coating improved carbon fiber's resistance to oxidation at high temperature and compatibilities with the matrixes of aluminum and SiC ceramic.
