A NEW PROCESS FOR FORMING A SILICON OXIDE COATING ON THE SURFACE OF CARBON FIBRES AND THE PROPERTIES OF THE COATED FIBRES

  • A simple and new process is introduced to successfully form silica coat-on the surface of the carbon fibers made in China.Study has been made the temperature resistant characteristic of the coated fibres and the compatibility between the coated fibres and molten magnesium.It is shown that the coated fibres are oxiided in air up to 700℃ and are wetted excellently by molten magnesium.
