FABRICATION, PROPERTY AND INTEPFACE STRUCTURE OF A K2O·8Ti2w/ZL109 COMPOSITE

Abstract
This paper deals with the tensile strength and interface structure of potassium titanate whisker(K2O·8TiO2w) reinforced aluminum alloy(ZL109) composite (K2O·8TiO2w/ZL109 composite) fabricated by squeeze casting.It is found that the tensile strength of the composite at room temperature and at 300℃ is comparable to that of ZL109 aluminum alloy,but its tensile strength at 200℃ is higher than that of ZL109 aluminum alloy.The interface structure of the composite was investigated by HRTEM.It is found that there is a TiO transient layer between the potassium titanate whisker and aluminum alloy matrix.
